Church of Santiago da Fontaneira

Iglesia-de-Santiago-da-Fontaneira

A rectangular-shaped  temple with a chancel featuring the same floorplan. The architectural elements of this construction include stone walls topped by a gabled slate roof on a wooden framework supported by two semi-circular arches. This temple also has a bell tower with two recesses and lintelled central and side doors. The small raised chancel with a semi-circular triumphal arch leads into the vestry at the rear.

The main altarpiece is in a relatively simple Baroque style, decorated with figures of Saint James on horseback, Saint Roch, Saint Anthony and other mediocre figures. The church treasure does however include a number of items of interest, such as two 18th century silver chalices, a flat-bodied silver monstrance decorated with leaf patterns in relief dating back to the 16th century and a two-drawer chest decorated in relief.
