STAGE 8 OF THE PRIMITIVE WAY
A FONSAGRADA - O CÁDAVO/BALEIRA
O Cádavo/Baleira marks the end of stage 8 of the Primitive Way of Saint James to Santiago. A route that winds its way between green meadows and leafy woods, where visitors will discover ancient remains relating to the history of this way. A route that takes us from village to village as we venture further into Galicia.
Extending 24.3 km, this stage is a demanding yet intensely satisfying route that makes its way along the mountaintops. Baleira marks the start of the descent, taking us through Paradavella, San Juan de Lastra and past Fontaneira peak.
We eventually come to O Cádavo/Baleira and the end of this stage, where pilgrims can enjoy a well-deserved rest at any of the hostels or other accommodation options available in the town, and also enjoy a restorative meal that includes the area’s traditional fare.
